Weight Management Clinic
Chase Lodge Hospital has launched its Weight Management Clinic introducing the new NICE-approved revolutionary weight loss drug Wegovy® to actively support your journey to a healthier, happier, slimmer you!
We have formed a team of highly experienced professionals including GPs, Endocrinology and Diabetes specialists, Psychologists and Emotional Wellbeing Specialists, who will support you on your journey.
Wegovy® can lead to weight loss, because it is designed to suppress the appetite so you eat less. It mimics the action of a gut hormone called GLP-1, which is released after eating, and it slows down the movement of food in your gut, so you stay full for longer.
Contraindications, criteria and any side effects will be discussed as part of your consultation with an experienced healthcare professional.
How effective is Wegovy®?
In a 68-week medical study of 1,961 adults* living with obesity or excess weight with a related medical problem:
In addition to a reduced-calorie meal plan and increased physical activity, people in this study taking Wegovy® lost more weight vs placebo.
- 83% of adults taking Wegovy® lost 5% or more of their body weight.
- 66% of adults taking Wegovy® lost 10% or more weight of their body weight.
- 48% of adults taking Wegovy® lost 15% or more weight of their body weight.
- 30% of people taking Wegovy® lost 20% or more weight of their body weight.

People who kept taking Wegovy continued to lose weight*
In a separate 68-week medical study, everyone on Wegovy was instructed to reduce calories and increase physical activity throughout the length of the study.
After 20 weeks, some people continued to take Wegovy, while others switch to a placebo. From weeks 20 to 68, people taking Wegovy continued to lose weight. People taking a placebo gained weight.
*This medical study included 902 adults with obesity (BMI >27) with at least one weight-related condition. People with type 2 diabetes were excluded. In the first 20 weeks, everyone started taking Wegovy and 803 people were able to reach the full dose. 5.8% of people taking Wegovy discontinued after week 20, compared to 11.6% for placebo.
