Psychology

Psychology is the study of people with regard to the link between the mind and behaviour. It looks at how people think, how they act, react and interact. It is concerned with all aspects of behaviour and the thoughts, feelings and motivation underlying them.

Psychologists deal with the way the mind works and can specialise in various areas such as mental health and educational and occupational psychology.

Psychologists are not usually medically qualified but have learnt how to apply their knowledge to use and teach techniques which can help people with mental health issues. They do not prescribe medication but may recommend seeing a GP or a psychiatrist if they feel that medication would be helpful.
